In high school, she had won in the New Mexico Golf State Tournament. A volleyball player, she also competed in state competitions. She was a student at in the University of Texas in 2003. She won all of the competitions she participated in during her senior years. During her undergrad professional career, she took home the Conference USA Individual Champion Player of the Year and UTEP Female Athlete of the year.
